Project Description
The Francis Crick Institute is a consortium of the six of the UK's most successful scientific and academic organisations, resulting in a multi disciplinary medical research institute that once complete will employ 1250 scientists. The building is conveniently located near to major London transport hubs, making it easily accessible to visitors and scientists from across the world. It also includes a Living Centre, housed over two floors that will accommodate meeting rooms, exercise space and a bright an airy reception area to support existing health related services and facilities available to the local community.
Scope of Services
Our package included the installation of 31,000 metres of galvanised, fire rated and plastic ductwork, and 5,300 Grilles. ASM manufactured the rectangular ductwork some of which was outside the normal scope of DW144, However through research & development in our workshop we were able to build ductwork that was capable of maintaining the integrity of the ventilation system and class C High pressure and Gas Tight classification.
Value Delivered
ASM developed a frameless module for the riser installation with a method of manufacturing ductwork that incorporates the framing as an integral part of the duct, enabling us to join lengths of duct which can be craned into the riser and install an entire level in one operation and make joints at floor level, again making installation safer, reducing the amount of work carried out in the riser by our operatives by 90%.
